Ball in Pool

Did you know that the state of Texas requires homeowners and commercial establishments to use a filter for swimming pools? Pool filters keep the water flowing through a system that cleans the water.

Here are a few different types of pool filters you should know about.

Sand Filters

Sand filters are one of the most popular types of pool filters because they’re relatively easy to maintain. These filters are extremely effective and efficient for filtering out larger dirt and dust particles that accumulate in pools.

Residential sand filters should have the sand and laterals changed every 3-5 years. Commercial pools should have the sand and laterals changed every 1-2 years.

Diatomaceous Earth (D.E.) Filters

D.E. filters have grids that are coated with D.E., a white-colored powder.

D.E. filters are highly effective for residential swimming pools because they keep the water clean and clear by trapping the smallest particles in your pool.

Cartridge Filters

Cartridge Filters are not capable of being backwashed, therefore, if the filter pressure rises you will have to open the filter and clean the cartridges to lower the pressure. Cartridges typically need to be replaced every 3-5 years with normal wear and tear.
